PR from Malaysia charged with trying to bribe traffic officer

SINGAPORE : A Singapore Permanent Resident from Malaysia has been charged with trying to bribe a traffic enforcement officer.
On February 26 this year, 49-year-old Sim Miew Fee was issued a summon for illegal parking near a food court at Peace Centre, along Sophia Road.
She then allegedly offered S$20 to Mohamad Alem Shaik Abdul Aziz to cancel the summon.
Mohamad Alem, a Certis Cisco Enforcement Officer attached to the Traffic Police Department, rejected Sim's offer and reported the incident to the Certis CISCO Ops room.
The case will come before the court again on November 3.
If convicted, Sim could be fined up to S$100,000, or jailed for up to five years, or both.

1. Muslims are guided by both Al-Quran and Hadith. Please ensure your sources are creditable and qualified.
2. Scholars in Muslim jurisprudence concurred that there are prescribed punishment. See www.zaharuddin.net for example.
3. I agree with you that the punishment must not be selective. Imagine the horror of our drunken leaders disclosing our national secrets to foreign agents!
4. You have the right to disagree and to ask questions. HOWEVER, you have no right to call my religion abhorrent, outdated, archaic and all such names. Should I now respond by calling names about your religion and your religious activities?
5. How do you know the silent majority is supportive or against such laws. Have you asked the Muslim and non-Muslim families disintegrated due to liquor, gambling and fornication? I am sure many will support chopping-off the hand of the snatch thieves and bribe takers! Why don't we do a referendum and not just some survey of Internet users?

No to ‘whipping for drinking’ (P. Gunasegaram, The STAR)
Let’s come right out and say it: It is abhorrent to most Malaysians and most of the world that a Muslim woman – or any woman – should be whipped for drinking beer. And that is especially so when scholars say that the Quran does not prescribe such a punishment in the first place.
But, sometimes, when those charged with the upholding of religious laws overstep their boundaries, it is up to the rest of us – Muslim or non-Muslim – to speak up or otherwise run the risk of having the more extreme views predominate and therefore prevail.
It’s dangerous if we don’t, because shying away from making a stand against an unfair situation means that those perpetrating it simply get more encouraged.
If the silent majority keeps silent its voice will never be heard. That would be bad.
And then there is the issue of many outmoded and archaic laws in the statute books, both syariah and civil, which can – and sometimes are – used to press charges against citizens.
The most famous of these now is the second charge of sodomy that former deputy prime minister and current Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim faces.
Many of these laws don’t involve any harm done to others and mainly centre around a person’s individual behaviour and his relations with other adults in private.
It is time that we cleaned up our statute books and got rid of laws that infringe on a person’s individual choice and which does no harm to others.
We should not only act when there is international reaction and attention focused on the issue but must as a matter of course do what is right and just for those who are affected by such punishment.
Earlier this week, Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, a Malaysian living in Singapore, had her whipping sentence deferred by the Pahang Syariah Appeal Court in view of Ramadan, the fasting month.
On July 20, the Pahang Syariah Court had fined Kartika RM5,000 and ordered her to be given six strokes of the rotan after she pleaded guilty to drinking beer at a hotel in Cherating, Pahang, last year.
Kartika refused to appeal and was not only adamant that she be caned but also wanted it to be done in public.
Everything seemed set for her punishment when she was scheduled for caning on Monday at Kajang prison. But Pahang Religious Department officers made a literal U-turn after picking her up at her house and returned her 45 minutes later after stopping by the roadside for 40 minutes.
This followed a letter from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
This case is drawing international media attention and may well affect Malaysia’s long-standing reputation and status as a moderate Islamic nation which has managed to blend Islamic tenets with development imperatives for the betterment of its citizenry.
In a twist of events, Kartika achieved what some of our best corporate personalities have not been able to – to make the front page of two of the most respected business newspapers in the world.
Both Asia editions of the New York-based Wall Street Journal and the London-based Financial Times had pictures of her on Tuesday on page 1, with reports inside.
Besides that, her plight was also reported in the New York Times and by other newspapers and agencies across the globe.
While our actions should not be based on what others think of us, we must also be mindful that they are in accord with internationally accepted norms with respect to human rights and right of choice when it comes to personal behaviour.
We must take care not to be hypocrites and not to be selective in our punishments.
If everyone who is a Muslim is to be whipped for taking alcohol, our jails will be filled to overflowing with those awaiting punishment and I dare say this will include quite a number of very big names.
So why can’t we do away with punishment for an offence like this especially when many experts say there is no prescribed punishment in the Quran for taking alcohol?
While at it, we should remove from the statute books archaic laws relating to people’s sexual preferences.
How ridiculous it is for instance to keep laws which outlaw oral sex, for instance, and other acts which occur between consenting adults in their own individual moments of privacy!
There is more than a case to be made out for outlawing whipping completely for any offence, especially since experts say that there is no evidence to indicate that such punishment deters misbehaviour.
We have only to look at the number of rape and incest cases in our country to understand that the assertion is anecdotally true.
We have to stand steadfast against those who would enlist the help of vigilantes to oversee personal behaviour.
There was one proposal a couple of years ago for khalwat or close proximity.
Earlier this week, a Selangor state executive council member proposed that mosque officials be given the right to arrest Muslims who take alcohol.
Imagine the kind of abuse that will give rise to – and the invasion of privacy such moves will result in – if there is a scramble to catch offenders.
Already there have been many reported cases of abuse, including one where a Rela officer refused to allow a female detainee to relieve herself in private and actually took a picture of her when she did.
No matter from where justice comes, the bottom line is that it must be fair, merciful, impartial, compassionate and proportionate to the offence committed. If we ensure that all laws – syariah or civil – conform to that, there will be no problems.
Kalau Tuhan Baik, Kenapa Buat Neraka?
Di sebuah negeri, kerap kali pihak berkuasa tempatan menjalankan pemeriksaan mengejut di premis-premis perniagaan dan kompleks beli-belah, untuk memastikan para pekerja di premis berkenaan menutup aurat.
Lazimnya dalam setiap operasi sebegini, seorang ustaz ditugaskan bersama dengan para pegawai pihak berkuasa tempatan. Tugasnya adalah untuk menyampaikan nasihat secara berhemah, kerana hukuman dan denda semata-mata tidak mampu memberi kesan yang mendalam.
Dalam satu insiden, ketika operasi yang dijalankan sekitar 2005,seorang gadis Islam yang bekerja di salah satu lot premis perniagaan di sebuah pasaraya telah didapati melakukan kesalahan tidak menutup aurat. Maka dia pun kena denda la...
Setelah surat saman dihulurkan oleh pegawai PBT, Ustaz ni pun bagi la nasihat, "lepas ni diharap saudari insaf dan dapat mematuhi peraturan. Peraturan ni bukan semata-mata peraturan majlis perbandaran, tapi menutup aurat ni termasuk perintah Allah. Ringkasnya, kalau taat segala perintahNya, pasti Dia akan membalas dengan nikmat di syurga. Kalau derhaka tak nak patuhi perintahNya, takut nanti tak sempat bertaubat, bakal mendapat azab di neraka Allah. Tuhan Maha Penyayang, Dia sendiri tak mahu kita campakkan diri ke dalam neraka..."
Gadis tersebut yang dari awal mendiamkan diri, tiba-tiba membentak "Kalau Tuhan tu betul-betul baik, kenapa buat neraka? Kenapa tak boleh sediakan syurga je? Macam tu ke Tuhan Maha Penyayang?" Mungkin dari tadi dia dah panas telinga, tak tahan dengar nasihat ustaz tu..... dah la hati panas kena denda sebab dia tak pakai tudung..
Ustaz tu terkedu sekejap. Bahaya budak ni. Kalau dibiarkan boleh rosak akidah dia. Setelah habis gadis tu membebel, ustaz tu pun jawab: "Adik, kalau Tuhan tak buat neraka, saya tak jadi ustaz. Berapa sen sangat gaji saya sekarang. Baik saya jadi tokey judi atau bapa ayam.... hidup senang, lepas mati pun tak risau sebab gerenti masuk syurga. Mungkin awak ni pun saya boleh culik dan jual jadi pelacur. Kalau awak nak lari, saya bunuh je. Takpe, sebab neraka tak ada. Nanti kita berdua jumpa lagi kat syurga..... kan Tuhan tu baik?"
Gadis tu terkejut. Tergamak seorang ustaz cakap macam tu? Sedang dia terpinga-pinga dengan muka confused, Ustaz tu pun jelaskan "perkara macam tadi akan berlaku kalau Tuhan hanya sediakan syurga. Orang baik, orang jahat, semua masuk syurga.... maka apa guna jadi orang baik? Jadi orang jahat lebih seronok. Manusia tak perlu lagi diuji sebab semuaorang akan 'lulus' percuma. Pembunuh akan jumpa orang yang dibunuh dalam syurga..... perogol akan bertemu lagi dengan mangsa rogol disyurga.... lepas tu boleh rogol lagi kalau dia nak. Takde siapa yang terima hukuman. Sebab Tuhan itu 'baik'. Adakah Tuhan macam ni yang kita nak? Awak rasa, adil ke?" tanya ustaz.
"Ah..mana adil macam tu. Orang jahat takkan la terlepas camtu je.." rungut si gadis. Ustaz tersenyum dan menyoal lagi: "Bila tuhan tak adil, boleh ke dianggap baik?"Gadis tu terdiam.
Ustaz mengakhiri kata-katanya:"Adik, saya bagi nasihat ni kerana kasih sesama umat Islam. Allah itu Maha Penyayang, tapi Dia juga Maha Adil. Sebab tu neraka perlu wujud. Untuk menghukum hamba-hambaNya yang derhaka, yang menzalimi diri sendiri dan juga orang lain. Saya rasa awak dah faham sekarang. Kita sedang diuji kat atas dunia ni. Jasad kita bahkan segala-galanya milik Allah, maka bukan HAK kita untuk berpakaian sesuka hati kita. Ingatlah; semuanya dipinjamkan olehNya, sebagai amanah dan ujian..semoga kita dapat bersabar dalam mentaati segala perintahNya, untuk kebaikan diri kita jugak. "

What to Do If You Get Flu-Like SymptomsSymptoms

People at higher risk of serious complications from seasonal flu include people age 65 years and older, children younger than 5 years old, pregnant women, people of any age with chronic medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), and people who are immunosuppressed (e.g., taking immunosuppressive medications, infected with HIV).Avoid Contact With Others
If you are sick, you may be ill for a week or longer. You should stay home and keep away from others as much as possible, including avoiding travel and not going to work or school, for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. If you leave the house to seek medical care, wear a facemask, if available and tolerable, and cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Children, especially younger children, might potentially be contagious for longer periods. Kenapa Kita Membantu Orang Lain?
“Allah selalu senantiasa memberikan pertolongan kepada hamba, selama hamba tersebut senantiasa menolong saudaranya”.
Dari hadits yang diriwayatkan oleh Imam Muslim dari Abu Hurairah RA ini, telah jelas bahwa Allah SWT sangat menganjurkan bagi semua hambanya untuk saling menolong. Disebutkan di atas bahwa Allah akan senantiasa memberikan anugerah dan rahmat-Nya kepada para hamba dengan mudah bila dia mau membantu saudaranya sesama muslim.
Tidak saja di dunia, nanti di akhirat Allah akan menghilangkan darinya beban dari beban-beban di hari kiamat, sebagaimana sabda nabi Muhammad SAW,
"Barang siapa yang meringankan beban orang mukmin di dunia, maka nanti pada hari kiamat Allah akan meringankan beban darinya beban-beban hari kiamat".
Seyogyanya, kita senantiasa membantu meringankan beban dan kesusahan orang lain serta membantu mereka memenuhi hajatnya, baik dengan harta ataupun tenaga yang kita miliki.
Janganlah kita berfikiran "dapat apa kita bantu orang lain" atau ketika kita telah membantu orang lain, janganlah terselip dalam pikiran kita perhitungan secara materi "aku bantu kamu tapi kamu harus bayar". Serahkanlah semua kepada Allah SWT, karena orang lain akan peduli kepada kita jika kita peduli kepada mereka. Ingatlah! Kita di dunia tidak akan selalu hidup dalam kejayaan.

Kita tolong orang lain bukan kerana kasihankan dia. Kalau kita menolong orang lain kerana kita kasihan dekat kita, pertolongan kita tidak akan tahan lama. Pernah tak kita mendengar seorang berkata “Dia tu dulu, anak nak sekolah pun tak mampu, saya yang tolong dia tu,dah berjaya sombong bukan main. Menyesal aku tolong”
Ini yang akan jadi apabila seorang itu menolong kerana kasihan.
Kita tolong orang lain bukan kerana nak nama. Kalau nak nama, nanti tak dapat nama, kita akan tinggalkan usaha ini. Nanti kita akan berkata "ah, malaslah nak buat, orang bukan hargai pun"
Kita tolong orang bukan kerana kita hebat. Kalau kerana hebat, apabila tidak ada orang rasa kagum dekat kita, kita akan tinggalkan usaha ini.
Jadi kenapa kita menolong orang lain?
Kita menolong orang lain kerana Allah yang menyuruh kita membantu orang lain. Allah suruh kita tolong orang susah. Allah suruh kita ambil berat orang sakit, ziarahi mereka, iringi jenazah mereka. Allah yang suruh kita menyalurkan sedekah jika kita mampu.
Ye, kita membantu orang lain bukan kerana kasihankan dia, kita bantu mereka kerana Allah suruh kita bantu orang lain. Jika perkara ini kita faham, kita akan membantu orang lain kerana Allah. Sama ada orang tahu atau tidak, kita akan tetap bantu orang, sama ada orang hargai atau tidak, kita akan tetap membantu orang, sama ada orang sangka baik atau tidak, kita akan tetap membantu orang lain.
Membantu orang lain kerana Allah, akan dianugerahkan:-
1. Diganti pemberiannya dengan yang lebih baik
2. Diberikan pemberiannya dengan sepuluh kali kebaikan
3. Di beri perlindungan Arasy ketika di padang mahsyar nanti
4. Dan lain-lain lagi.
Kita boleh menyenaraikan ratusan hadith dan ayat al-Quran untuk kelebihan ini. Tetapi yang paling besar ialah, kita membantu orang lain untuk mencari keredhaan Allah. Ia yang terlebih besar. Kita tidak ke syurga dengan kehebatan amalan kita. Amalan kita terlalu sedikit di bandingkan dengan syurga itu. Kita ke syurga kerana keredahaan Allah kepada kita lantaran usaha mentaati perintahNya.
Jadi, jangan rasa hebat dalam amalan, jangan rasa ragu-ragu nak membantu, jangan membantu dengan rasa terpaksa, jangan membantu dengan rasa tak puas hati. Sesungguhnya, kita membantu, kerana Allah suruh kita bantu orang lain.
Semoga, usaha mentaati Allah ini menjadikan kita terus dibimbingNya. Kita mengharapkan agar, ketika mata kita tertutup bertemu denganNya, terdapat kasih sayangNya pada kita kerana kita cuba mengasihi saudara seIslam kita di dunia.

Tanda yang mudah ditemukan dalam diri seorang munafik adalah mencela. Dari zaman Rasulullah saw hingga zaman sekarang, orang-orang munafik selalu mencela mereka yang tidak sepaham, sepemikiran dan sejalan dengan dirinya.
Jika dulu orang-orang yang berjihad bersama Nabi saw yang dicela, zaman sekarang orang-orang yang bertakwa pun juga dicela. Salah satu kelompok yang menjadi objek mereka adalah orang mukmin yang bersedekah.
Di Surah At-Taubah: Ayat 67 kita sudah membahas bahwa orang munafik itu kikir. Kikir adalah sikap pasif. Bila menjadi kata aktif, kikir bermetamoforsa menjadi celaan terhadap orang yang bersedekah.
Bila kita pernah mengkritik teman yang bersedekah dengan kata-kata...jangan memaksa diri bersedekah kalau kamu sendiri masih perlu dibantu..atau ...buat apa kamu bantu orang lain, saudara kamu sendiri masih banyak yang hidupnya susah..atau ...kalau kamu terlalu royal dalam mengeluarkan uang buat orang lain, kapan kamu bisa menabung buat masa depan kamu?...atau...ya elah, kalau cuma seribu perak, buat apa sedekah? Seribu perak bisa buat apa hare gene?
Maka berhati-hatilah! Sebab bisa jadi bibit kemunafikan mulai tumbuh dalam hati kita. Menghina, mengkritik dan mencela orang yang bersedekah, dan bahkan hanya sekedar kesanggupannya, merupakan ciri orang-orang munafik sejak zaman Rasulullah saw hingga saat ini.
Semoga kita terhindar dari penyakit munafik jenis ini. Amin Ya Robbal’alamin.

SOALAN MENGENAI SEORANG TOKOH SENI
Saya enggan mengulas, namun sekadar kenyataan umum untuk semua. Pada saya, hal seperti ini, sesuatu jenazah diurus sebagai seorang lelaki muslim, jika pasti dia seorang benar-benar lelaki asalnya.
Namun jika tidak pasti, mungkin dia khunsa atau sebagainya, dan dia telah menjalani hidup sebagai seorang perempuan, maka anggaplah dia sememangnya perempuan.
Dengan cara tersebut, kita bersangka baik kepadanya dan tidak 'tajassus' atau mencari keburukannya. Kita tidak disuruh untuk menyelak rahsia peribadi insan apa yang tidak zahir atau tidak kita ketahui dan pasti. Kita hukum berdasarkan apa yang nyata.
Kita doakan keampunan dan rahmat Allah untuknya. Adapun tindakan dan perbuatannya, jika ada yang salah, kita serahkan kepada Allah, Dia Yang Maha Mengetahui setiap hambaNya. Setiap hamba ada rahsia yang tersendiri antara dia dan Allah Yang Maha Pengasih, apa yang kita tidak tahu.
Ya, perbuatan yang salah kita tidak restui, yang haram tidak akan kita halalkan, namun kedudukan seseorang insan di sisi Tuhannya kita tidak pasti. Seseorang mungkin bertaubat, memohon keampunan, mengadu masalahnya yang tersendiri kepada Allah apa yang kita tidak tahu.
Kita bukan penentu syurga dan neraka seseorang. Ya, perbuatan yang salah, tetap salah di sisi syarak. Namun keadaan atau kedudukan setiap pesalah di sisi Allah tidak sama. Mungkin insan yang zahirnya buruk, namun keampunan Allah melimpah untuknya disebabkan perkara-perkara yang tidak kita ketahui.
Mungkin juga seseorang kelihatan baik pada sisi manusia, namun dia keji di sisi Allah. Allah menimbang setiap insan amalan baik dan buruknya. Sesiapa amalan baik melebihi amalan buruknya, maka selamatlah dia. Begitulah sebaliknya. Perbuatan yang salah jangan diulangi.
Adapun beliau sudah pun meninggal, kita dilarang mencerca jenazah muslim atau bukan muslim pun hanya kerana maksiat peribadinya. Bahkan kita disuruh mendoakan keampunan Allah untuk setiap saudara muslim, semoga Allah juga mengampuni kita pada hari kita bertemuNya nanti.

Bertengkar Atas Perkara Yang Remeh....
A GROUP of Muslim jurists once got together, and because they could not think of anything better to do, they proceeded to talk of trivial matters.
One of them asked: “During a funeral procession, should one walk on the right side of the coffin or on the left?”. Immediately, the group became confused and was divided by differences of opinion.
Some argued that one should walk on the right side, while others maintained that one should walk on the left.
Each group believed its argument was better than the other’s. Unable to solve their problem, they went to Mulla Nasreddin and asked for his fatwa.
Nasreddin listened to each group carefully and then said: “It does not matter on which side of the coffin you are, just as long as you are not inside!”.
A legendary satirical Sufi figure, Nasreddin in this anecdote gets his message across in a manner of profound simplicity. Simply put, Muslims should be on guard against idle conjecture.
Indeed, wasting time in vain controversies is rebuked by Allah in the Qur’an (Al-Kahf, 18: 22, 26).
It is “in vain” to argue over religious truths with no authority based on true knowledge (Ghafir, 40: 56).
Allah commands in the Qur’an not to imitate quarrelsome people who love mischievous controversies. Barren controversies waged concerning religion reflects a false conception of knowledge.
On the one extreme, there are those secularists who assume that science, which is only relative to the phenomenological, is the only authentic knowledge, including the philosophy derived from it.
On the other extreme, there are those who restrict knowledge (al-‘ilm) only to the domain of jurisprudence (ahkam fiqhiyyah).
Such attitudes cause an inability to define real issues and inability to isolate real problems from false ones.
If real problems are not identified in the first place, certainly there will be no hope of finding the right solutions.
It is a characteristic of the feeble minded and shallow to enjoy endless controversy — polemics of insignificant issues, polemics of unnecessary legalistic details, and scholastic hair-splitting trivialities.
Muslims must be wise enough to distinguish between peripheral and marginal issues and major ones that directly concern humanity and the knowledge concerning the purpose of life and ultimate destiny.
It is a pseudo problem to emphasise differences between the various madhahib (Islamic legal schools). It is also false to emphasise trivialities within those legal schools and to argue obstinately for adherence to them.
Hurling accusations of irreligiousness against the other will not solve anything.
It is also erroneous to attempt an ignorant interpretation of Quranic verses whose meanings are obscure (ayat mutashabihat), for example on the question of fate and predestination (qada’ and qadr).
Rather, Muslims must emphasise the main business of religion, which emphasises authority of knowledge against conjecture; and education with moral purpose and spiritual significance (al-ta’dib).
Throughout history, the foregoing was emphasised by sincere scholars and scholars of keen intelligence and profound insight.
Scholars who had intellectual integrity and honoured the trust of right spiritual leadership, classified the various sciences in relation to their priorities and placed each one according to its correct order of priority.
This ensured integrated knowledge, of which there is always equilibrium between two types of knowledge; knowledge of the world as well as knowledge of reality, truth and values.
Imam al-Shafi‘i (d. 204/820) once remarked: “Knowledge has a dual nature: concerning bodily matters, and concerning religious affairs” (“Al-‘ilm ‘ilman: ‘ilmul abdan wa ‘ilmul adyan”).
Al-Shafi‘i’s remark conveys the true conception of knowledge as it faithfully reflects human nature itself.
The worldview of Islam defines mankind as one possessed of a sublime ruh or spiritual subtlety created by Allah (Al-Hijr, 15: 29).
Composed of body and soul, at once physical being and spirit; out of these two, there is constituted a third entity called man (Al-Mu’minun, 23: 12-14).
Al-Shafi‘i further remarked: “Knowledge is not what is memorised, but only what benefits (humanity).”
Integrative knowledge is a means of attaining humanity’s good, wherein the physical aspect must be integrated in a profound and inseparable way to the spiritual and intellectual aspects.
As one’s knowledge with all its branches must extend its fruits in the form of one’s useful and helpful actions in the best interests of one’s soul and society, the Prophet Mohamed took refuge in Allah from knowledge which does not benefit (narrated by Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr and Ibn Majah).

KUANTAN: A 78-year-old businessman died of a heart attack while allegedly in the midst of foreplay with a transvestite on Sunday.
Harun Mohd Salleh was in the 31-year-old transvestite's room in Jalan Sultan Ismail about 5.40pm when he died.
The transvestite claimed Harun was caressing him when he had the heart attack.
Deputy district police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Taha said police had classified the case as sudden death.

[9] Dan jika dua puak dari orang-orang yang beriman berperang, maka damaikanlah di antara keduanya; jika salah satunya berlaku zalim terhadap yang lain, maka lawanlah puak yang zalim itu sehingga dia kembali mematuhi perintah Allah; jika dia kembali patuh maka damaikanlah di antara keduanya dengan adil (menurut hukum Allah), serta berlaku adillah kamu (dalam segala perkara); sesungguhnya Allah mengasihi orang-orang yang berlaku adil.
[10] Sebenarnya orang-orang yang beriman itu adalah bersaudara, maka damaikanlah di antara dua saudara kamu (yang bertelingkah) itu dan bertakwalah kepada Allah supaya kamu beroleh rahmat.
[11] Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Janganlah sesuatu puak (dari kaum lelaki) mencemuh dan merendah-rendahkan puak lelaki yang lain, (kerana) harus puak yang dicemuhkan itu lebih baik daripada mereka dan janganlah pula sesuatu puak dari kaum perempuan mencemuh dan merendah-rendahkan puak perempuan yang lain, (kerana) harus puak yang dicemuhkan itu lebih baik daripada mereka dan janganlah setengah kamu menyatakan keaiban setengahnya yang lain dan janganlah pula kamu panggil-memanggil antara satu dengan yang lain dengan gelaran yang buruk.
(Larangan-larangan yang tersebut menyebabkan orang yang melakukannya menjadi fasik, maka) amatlah buruknya sebutan nama fasik (kepada seseorang) sesudah dia beriman dan (ingatlah), sesiapa yang tidak bertaubat (daripada perbuatan fasiknya) maka merekalah orang-orang yang zalim.
[12] Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Jauhilah kebanyakan dari sangkaan (supaya kamu tidak menyangka sangkaan yang dilarang) kerana sesungguhnya sebahagian dari sangkaan itu adalah dosa dan janganlah kamu mengintip atau mencari-cari kesalahan dan keaiban orang dan janganlah setengah kamu mengumpat setengahnya yang lain.
Adakah seseorang dari kamu suka memakan daging saudaranya yang telah mati? (Jika demikian keadaan mengumpat) maka sudah tentu kamu jijik kepadanya. (Oleh itu, patuhilah larangan-larangan yang tersebut) dan bertakwalah kamu kepada Allah; sesungguhnya Allah Penerima taubat, lagi Maha mengasihani.
[13] Wahai umat manusia! Sesungguhnya Kami telah menciptakan kamu dari lelaki dan perempuan dan Kami telah menjadikan kamu berbagai bangsa dan bersuku puak, supaya kamu berkenal-kenalan (dan beramah mesra antara satu dengan yang lain).
Sesungguhnya semulia-mulia kamu di sisi Allah ialah orang yang lebih takwanya di antara kamu, (bukan yang lebih keturunan atau bangsanya). Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mengetahui, lagi Maha Mendalam PengetahuanNya (akan keadaan dan amalan kamu).
